Organisational Structure
The Director
The Director, Dr Tony Webber, is a statutory officer appointed by the Minister for Health and Ageing (with agreement from the AMA) to manage the PSR process. Dr Webber was appointed Director from the 14th of February 2005, following the retirement of the inaugural Director, Dr Alan John Holmes. The Director reports directly to the Minister and his actions are governed by the Act.
The Executive Officer
The Executive Officer is responsible for three Unit Managers and their staff; while legal counsel support the Director in his role. The Executive Officer reports to the Director and has a leadership role in achieving organisational objectives through management of operational matters, financial and human resources, policy development and provision of governance advice.
Standing Committees
PSR operates two standing committees—an Audit Committee and a Management Committee.
The Audit Committee
The Audit Committee is comprised of three members, and their objective is to provide independent assurance and assistance to the Director on PSR’s risk, control and compliance framework and its external accountability responsibilities. Audit Committee Charter (word format)
The Management Committee
The Management Committee, comprising the Director, the Executive Officer and the Unit Managers, has a varied agenda that depends to an extent on current issues, however it regularly discusses operational and corporate governance issues; policy maintenance and development; finances; human resources; occupational health and safety and productivity.
Legal Counsel
General legal assistance is outsourced, while secretariat support for the Determining Authority is located within PSR’s offices.
