The Director

The Director of Professional Services Review is Dr Tony Webber. Dr Webber was appointed by the Minister for Health and Ageing for a three year term commencing on 14th February 2005.

Dr Webber graduated from the University of NSW in 1974. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr Webber has spent 27 years in full time general practice before his appointment to his current position. He has had a long history of involvement with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, having been an examiner since 1984 and serving on the NSW Faculty Board. While in practice Dr Webber was extensively involved in general practice Divisions. He has a long term interest in the maintenance of standards of practice with the Australian health system.

It is the Director’s role to manage an accountability process whereby the conduct of a person, who rendered or initiated services attracting a Medicare benefit or has prescribed under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, can be examined to ascertain whether inappropriate practice was involved.
