Section 106K(3) of the Health insurance Act 1973
enables the Minister to make a determination specifying the content and
form of a sampling methodology that may used by a Committee for the
purposes of section 106K(1). Application of such methodology enables a Committee to examine a sample of services and to extrapolate the proportion of inappropriate practice found in that sample to the entire class of services from which the examined sample was obtained.
