Ecologically sustainable development and environmental performance
Section 516A of the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (the EPBC Act) requires that PSR report its contribution to ecologically sustainable development (ESD).
PSR’s small size and specific role limit its opportunities to contribute to ESD.
None of PSR’s activities are relevant to ESD in terms of the EPBC Act, and the PSR outcome listed in the Portfolio Budget Statements for 2006–07 does not contribute to ESD.
In its operations, PSR endeavours to reduce its energy costs and encourages ecologically sustainable practices, such as paper recycling and greater reliance on electronic records in preference to paper.
