The PSR Agency is required to publish the details of statutory appointments made under the Act to enable the operation of the PSR Scheme. The roles described below are statutory appointments made by the Minister of Health. The following table of statutory appointments sets out a full list of current appointees, their dates of appointment and the roles to which they have been appointed.
Director, Professional Services Review
The Director is an independent statutory officer appointed by the Minister for Health under section 83 of the Act. The Director must be a medical practitioner, and his or her appointment is subject to the agreement of the AMA.
The PSR Panel comprises of medical and other health care practitioners, who are appointed by the Minister for Health to sit on peer review Committees under section 84 of the Act. Panel members are appointed after consultation with the AMA and other relevant professional bodies.
Deputy Directors are PSR Panel members appointed by the Minister for Health to Chair PSR Committees under section 85 of the Act. Deputy Directors are appointed after consultation with the AMA and other relevant professional bodies.
The Determining Authority comprises a permanent Chair (medical practitioner), a permanent lay person and a member who represents the profession of the practitioner being reviewed. The Minister for Health appoints the Chair and members after consultation with the AMA and other relevant professional bodies under section 106ZPB of the Act.
